Why join The North Louisiana Chapter of NIGP?

  • NLANIGP provides excellent opportunities for those involved in government procurement to develop professionally and stay current on public procurement topics through workshops, seminars, and networking events.
  • NLANIGP promotes professionalism and excellence in public procurement by encouraging members to become certified and by providing training scholarships for seminars and workshops.
  • NLANIGP contributes annually to the Lewis E. Spangler Foundation to provide scholarships, grants and loans to students enrolled in a college program taking courses in a field related to public purchasing and to provide scholarships to public procurement professionals seeking to enhance their professional development.
  • NLANIGP recognizes excellence to the public procurement profession and service to the community through the annual award of Buyer of Year, Manager of the Year, and the President’s Award.
  • NLANIGP promotes regional economic development by partnering with government business assistance organizations to host the Annual North Louisiana Government Procurement Conference and Reverse Vendor Trade Show.

Classes of membership:

Regular Membership

Public institution procurement and materials management personnel including federal, state, county, municipal and township activities, public school systems, colleges, universities, hospitals, commissions, authorities, and any other political subdivisions of the State; full time employees of NIGP member agencies, provided they spend the majority of their time involved in purchasing or materials management functions; persons with full time employment in positions having a direct influence on the public procurement process, such as elected officials, department heads, and educators.

Associate Membership

Non-procurement professionals that are employees of a public agency. Risk Managers, Contract Administrators, Architects, Engineers, and Attorneys are examples of such membership provided that they are employed by a public agency.

Agency Membership
(Based on number and type of designated individuals)

Governmental purchasing organizations, including federal procurement agencies and the purchasing agencies or departments of state, provincial, and local governments (or their agencies or departments); publicly owned utilities, schools and colleges, hospitals, public authorities, and other tax-supported purchasing agencies shall be eligible to be Agency Members. Each designated employee of Agency Members shall meet the requirements of a Regular Individual or Associate Membership.

Affiliate Membership

Individuals, agencies, or firms, both for-profit and non-profit, that have direct involvement in public procurement, small/minority/women owned business assistance, and economic development. Examples of Affiliate Members are: Entities funded by government agencies to facilitate government procurement such as Procurement Technical Assistance Centers; Business Incubators; Chambers of Commerce; Architectural and Engineering Firms; and Attorneys retained as legal counsel to public agencies. Dues for Affiliate Member agencies or firms shall be equal to the sum of the membership as if each member was assessed individually.
